U.S. - Middle East Education Fund
S.A.G.E. is launching a new U.S. - Middle East Education
Fund. We have recently added Thomas Winder to our Board of Directors
because of his expertise in Middle Eastern issues. We are currently
planning the International Symposium on Middle Eastern Archaeology to have the Arab
universities share the field work done in the Muslim world with the west.
The mission of the symposium is to bring together Arab Archaeologists to share
discoveries relating to cultural history and open up a dialog with
European/Western archaeologist relating to the History of the Middle East.
Thomas Winder, our Middle East representative, has extensive
knowledge of the region. He is an alumni of the Institute of Holy Land
Studies in Jerusalem, a student of Archaeology and Hebraic studies. He has
traveled in the Middle East many times, and has unprecedented contacts throughout
the region.
The first International Symposium on Middle Eastern Archaeology is being planned, and is expected to be held in Amman, Jordan, followed by
annual symposiums to be held in Syria, Turkey, and hopefully Saudi Arabia.
Grant writing and fund raising are underway to underwrite the first symposium.
